Job description:

Ukwazi is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to join their Sustainable Mining team. Ukwazi is a South African based mining services provider with its head office based in Centurion, Gauteng. Our Sustainable Mining team focus on providing environmental consulting services to predominantly the mining industry. 

The consultant should demonstrate technical excellence and environmental consulting competence including: 

• Environmental Authorisation Applications
• Water Use License Applications
• Waste Management License Applications
• Key client/account relationship management, participation in marketing and business development activities
• Compilation and review of tenders and quotations

Qualifications/Experience Required:

• BSc Honours Degree in appropriate environmental field or equivalent.
• EAPASA and/or Pr.Sci.Nat Professional Registration, or eligibility to register 
• Minimum five (5) years environmental consulting experience in Impact Assessment, Water Use Licenses, public participation and project management in the mining industry.
• Sound knowledge of South African environmental legislation, guidelines, legislative requirements, as well as EIA and water use licence regulatory processes.
• Liaise appropriately with sub-consultants, clients and regulatory authorities.
• Well organized and proactive – able to plan, prioritize, co-ordinate and work well under pressure.
• Capable of problem-solving and the ability to think critically, with attention to detail.
• Ability to work as part of a team or independently as needed.
• Excellent communication and report writing skills in English.
• Fully conversant in Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
• Valid driver’s license, own transport and willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings.
• Proficiency in GIS will be an advantage.
