Roles / Responsibilities & Job Description:

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior Environmental Assessment Practitioner at Elemental Sustainability (Pty) Ltd., and will require the following from the successful candidate:

  • Responsible for conducting a range of environmental studies in the broad fields of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and environmental management
  • Excellent working knowledge of environmental legislation as it relates to the EIA process
  • Competent in collaborating with stakeholders, conducting Public Participation Processes and facilitating stakeholder engagement meetings
  • Experience in Water Use Licence (WUL) Applications on the online eWULAAS system and compilation of IWWMPs and RSIPs
  • Experience in Air Emission Licence (AEL) Applications
  • Experience in Waste Management Licence (WML) Applications
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Proficient in project budgeting and scheduling management
  • Liaising with Clients and Authorities
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Critical thinking and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to confidently liaise with Clients and work strategically within multidisciplinary professional teams
  • Ability to compile tenders, and
  • Auditing


Qualifications/Experience Required
:

  • Post graduate degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Management or related field
  • +8 years’ experience as an EAP
  • +3-5 years in the mining industry
  • Professional registration with EAPASA required and additional professional registration (e.g. SACNASP) would be preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of Environmental Legislation and Compliance
  • Environmental Assessment and Impact Analysis skills
  • Understanding and practical experience with Environmental Authorisation Processes
  • Excellent Data Analysis, and EIA and EMP Report Writing skills
  • Project Management skills
  • Experience in Sustainability and Environmental Management
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication skills
  • Proven experience in large projects, and managing environmental and social processes
  • Proven experience in managing a project team
  • Strong interpersonal skills (build rapport etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong Client orientation
  • Excellent presentation skills, and
  • Superior organisational skills
